I think a review from me on my Fitbit Charge is long overdue. I purchased it on 15 Aug, 2015, So it has been almost 6 months since I've been using it. It has assisted me in keeping a track of my fitness. It keeps me abreast of the calories burned, steps taken, hours slept & whether I was in deep sleep or restless. It shows the number of stairs climbed, number of kilometers covered, the number of minutes, I've been active. Before purchasing this activity tracker, I had already been through the previous reviews of this tracker, so, the additional steps that it shows or adds when you drive your car or move your hands while eating, doesn't warrant the deduction of one star. This issue remains with all the other trackers too. However, the "fake" steps or calories doesn't have much impact on the accuracy of this tracker. I trust this tracker and have recommended it to my friends too. I was also aware that this tracker is not waterproof, so, please do not take it with you for a swim or drop it in a bucket of water. However, there is no need to worry, if it gets slightly wet in rain or due to sweat, you can always wipe it clean and dry it with a towel, handkerchief or any cloth. There are a lot of pros & a few cons that I can state and they are as follows:

    PROS:
    1. USB Bluetooth Dongle:
When I placed an order for Fitbit, I was apprehensive about whether will it be able to sync with my cheap Chinese phone via Bluetooth. My previous activity tracker(s) didn't(neither were they able to sync with any other phones, so to speak) . When I was opened the box, I was surprised to see a USB Bluetooth Dongle with the tracker, which meant that even if the tracker didn't sync with my phone, I'll be able to sync the tracker with my PC or laptop, through the Dongle. This was a massive relief for me. I can now sync the tracker with mu PC and check my daily activities without any hassle. Later on I realized that how pathetic was the bluetooth on my phone. I purchased OnePlus 2 in December & it works/syncs perfectly with my tracker.

    2. Easy To Use App/Website:
The Fitbit app is really easy to setup and use. I love the way the website it set up. It's all colorful and nice and pleasing to the eye. Setting up an account with Fitbit is as simple as setting up a new Email ID. Just keep in mind that you do need to know you weight & height at the time of setting up. You can change the measuring units as per your convenience. All measuring units are available on Fitbit. For eg:- For weights Kg, lbs & st, for height Ft&In., & Cms, Food gms, Oz, lb, piece(small, medium, large), etc., Drinks ml&L, Oz, etc +Kilo Calories or Kilo Joules are available.

    3. Keeps you motivated:
Fitbit or any other activity tracker keeps you motivated. It's there with you all the time & you cannot ignore it. If you are like me, a person who wants to lose weight without going on a crash diet or starving, then, Fitbit will motivate you. By wearing Fitbit won't make you lose weight, however, It keeps you motivated long enough to do something & be a bit more active than you usually are. I am trying to lose weight & it keeps me motivated. There are days, when you just feel that you don't want to exercise and just keep eating, however, this brings me back right on track the next day. I hope that it'll keep you motivated too, just the way it did with me. (plus, it's cost keeps me motivated too. :-D). I trust Fitbit and take it's readings as accurate & it has helped me a lot.

    4. Comfortable on your wrist & Looks good.

    5. Fitbit send a notification through it's App & through Email, informing you that the battery is low & you need to charge it.

    6. Long lasting battery and can easily last for 6-7 days on a full charge. It also takes 1 hr to 1.5 hrs to fully charge the tracker.

    7. Easy tap to check the readings. You do not have to press the button on the side to check the readings for the day.

    CONS:
    1. Fake Steps/Calories:
As I had mentioned it before, the tracker notes every movement of the arm and adds extra steps to your daily count, if you drive or use the same hand to eat. However, for me this is a non issue, as I had already known this fact in advance. I do not consider this as a con, but, others might do.

    2. Food Database:
This is a major issue for me. The food database of Fitbit is either US or the UK. So, it has the nutritional info of foods available in those countries. but, when it comes to Indian foods, it's databases are seriously lacking. Since, Fitbit is getting really popular in India, It needs to create a food database of all the foods and brands available in India, including the Indian snacks like samosas or chaat, etc, plus each and every regional food in India. Every time I eat anything, I need to search & record it's nutritional value. This is the most tedious work that I have to do on my Fitbit account. I'm now used to doing internet searches for the nutritional value of the food I've eaten, and select the website which I think depicts the most accurate nutritional values. This part might be a major turnoff for some, However, if you are determined enough, you can overcome this hurdle, like I did.

    3. Not Waterproof:
This might be a con for those who like to swim, but, not for me. You need to take it off when you are going for a bath, however, that's fine in my opinion.

So, In short, I will definitely recommend Fitbit Charge to everyone. I know that the price can be a sticking point for some as it might blow their budget, however, I'll advise them to buy it on EMI's. I did the same. Bought it on an EMI for 6 months. You can get it a bit more cheaper during sales. Amazon sells it at 20% discount during those sales. If you are serious about keeping a track of your activity and leading a healthy life, Fitbit Charge will definitely assist you there & keep you motivated. When you are setting up your account with Fitbit, after purchasing any of their products, please enable their daily or weekly newsletters via Emails. Those Emails keep you up to date about exercises, foods, eating habits etc.
I love my Fitbit Charge & would recommend everyone to get one or gift it to their loved ones. After all, HEALTH IS WEALTH.

That's all I can come up with, however, If I remember something, I'll add it to this review later.

P.S. - When I purchased my Fitbit, I was Obese (84Kgs), Now, I'm at the lower end of overweight category(69.3Kgs) and about to enter the normal weight category Soon. I had set my weight target at 63 Kgs & I will get there soon. :-)

Amazon delivered it one day before the promised date. I just loved this (and kind of addicted to it) since the time I have started using it. My review is based on my 15 days usage.

    Pros:
    1) Super good, counts each and every step you take to perfect.
    2) The sleep monitoring is really cool as it automatically tracks it, now I know the actual amount of time I sleep properly
    3) The dashboard (& the mobile app) is very easy to use
    4) It motivates me to take that extra step. I even registered in few groups which is very cool and motivating to reach certain goals.

    Cons:
    1) Major drawback is, the steps get counted (few steps) even while you ride your two wheeler (I guess it considers the activity as cycling), which is very common in India
    2) There is a bug in Fitbit charge as it does not sync the exercises or active minutes regularly. I got to know its a known bug and Fitbit is working on it. There is a way out, but you don't expect such error from a product like this.

It works great when it comes to recording the calories, distance, steps, etc. But I could 'never' get its clock to work properly. It has been showing the wrong time since (slow by 1 hr 30 mins) after 2 days of purchasing it. Since I am in Delhi, I adjusted its timezone to point to Dubai so it shows the right time, and it did for 2 days. And then this time, its clock was 30 min fast. So I adjusted it back to IST, and surprisingly it became all right...then again, for 2 days. I tried one more time zone, but with the same result!
Apart from the time problem, it works great. The only support it has is twitter/message, and if you write to them, they refer you to some previous forum post.

The initial set up was so difficult that it was a week after I got the 'charge' that I started using it . A friend who is an experienced fitbit user took 1and a half hours to set up the basic version(that is steps, distance ,calories) . For about 2 weeks it worked somewhat but it has stopped syncing with my computer since then . INSTEAD OF CONCENTRATING ON ACHIEVING MY GOALS I AM SPENDING 4 TO 7 HOURS IN FRONT OF THE COMPUTER EVERYDAY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM MANUALLY. I AM REGRETTING THE DAY I BOUGHT FITBIT AND SPENT Rs. 10000 ON A GADGET THAT RECORDS 15 MINUTES WALK AS 0 ACTIVITY MINUTES AND 450 STEPS WALKED WHILE SITTING ON THE SOFA. My sister was planning to buy FITBIT CHARGE HR from AMAZON a few days back but now it's a NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. (OR FIND SOMEONE WHO WILL HANDLE EVERYTHING FOR YOU WHILE YOU EXERCISE).
    The only plus points:
One works hard to achieve the daily target and sometimes overdo it also.

    Excellent product from Fitbit.
    Excellent service by Amazon.

Fitbit: Amongst all activity wristbands in the market, I feel products offered by Fitbit are amongst the best (together with the Apple Watch). However, because of the price, I prefer Fitbit. The Fitbit Charge is also very accurate in terms of what it measures.

Amazon: I ordered a Fitbit Charge Wireless and it came with a defect. I requested for it to be replaced. No problem whatsoever. It was picked up the next day and a replacement was delivered within 2-3 days. This is not always the case, when you buy from a regular retail shop!

This has been my first and only fitness tracker, so I can't give comparisons, but it really has been incredible. I love the customization of the info it shows, the convenience of the app on my phone, the dongle, and the app I can put on my computer. I can get the time at a turn of my wrist (with the new firmware update, that was my biggest complaint out of the box and they fixed it) and my morning alarm is silent but wakes me better than sound with the vibration. I have to say, that's my favorite function - I love that it vibrates when I get phone calls, and it has some range. Just this morning I left my phone upstairs on accident and while I was in the kitchen it vibrated with a call and then told me who was calling! Screw wearable tech like the moto 360 at $300, this has caller ID and costs less than half. Finally, the sleep tracking has changed my life. Research suggests that individuals NEED 7-9 hours of restful sleep at night or they start having metabolic and immune reactions. The sleep tracking is automatic, just wear your Charge to bed. On top of that, I really like the water intake tracking function in the app. Another thing I don't do enough of. I don't regret a penny I spent on this, because it's made me more health conscious just wearing it, and its function and convenience have improved my life.

That said, let's get into the bad. I got a small, and boy, is it small! Measure your wrists people, I thought for a second putting it on out of the box that it wasn't going to fit. For reference, I am female, just under 5'4", and I was a 32 BMI when I bought this.

This brings me to a good point, which is that I've lost 10 pounds since I got it, and my BMI now measures 27. (I've actually been able to move one in from the last hole!) It really makes you aware of your activity! I found it extremely motivating in regards to everyday movement and calories burned such as with taking the stairs (it tracks that) and parking further away from grocery store to get more steps in.

Which brings us to another con: it's temperamental. It doesn't work when you're pushing a shopping cart, because your wrists stay steady, but it counts steps while you're sitting in aa moving car! I was flabbergasted by this, but after a bunch of research I discovered this is really common and unavoidable. And if you take it off in the car, it doesn't count calories and you run the risk of forgetting it there. So I downloaded an app called DriveBit, which you have to turn on and off when you're in a vehicle, but is the easiest way to log a no steps activity that still counts calories burned. It's an extra step in and out of the car though, so I put it on my non-dominate wrist, set the fitbit to dominate (to lower the sensitivity) and generally don't bother with the app unless I'm driving long distance.

More bad is the clasp. If you get one of these, buy those rubber things in the related section to secure it. I've felt it pop open three times since I got it, the first being the day after it arrived in the mail. I wear mine a little tighter than I think is recommended, but it bothers me if it's too loose, so I feel it when it pops open. I don't think this has anything to do with taking it on and off, as another reviewer has suggested, just because of how soon mine did it after I got it. Though I will say I'm planning to get the rubber things, that does sound like a lot of hassle getting it on and off for the shower. Honestly, I'd save yourself the trouble and pay the extra for the HR, which has a watchband clasp.

This brings me to the final bad thing, which you can see in the pictures. As some other reviews have mentioned, mine also started coming apart. The rubber wristband has pulled away from the hard plastic on the side and has actually ripped and pulled up next to the face. This is nerve wrecking, because I'm terrified I'm going to catch it on something and rip the whole thing apart. Lastly, the button has gone stiff and creaky, for no reason I can figure - I've never worn it in the shower or anything like that. I wouldn't say I've been particularity hard on it at all. It is a fitness tracker, and all I've done really is wear it, nothing more intense than some occasional running.

Now this brings me to a BIG plus and the reason this gets five stars from me instead of four - I figured I'd look up the fitbit warranty information. On their website, it said to contact customer support, which was easy and didn't involve twenty minutes of pushing buttons to get the information you needed or through to a person. After basic info and my fitbit account email, I was informed I qualified for a replacement, to arrive at my house within 30 days and at no cost to me. I don't even have to send the old one back and worry about return shipping nonsense!

I was eying cheap knockoffs to give people for Christmas, but no more. Fitbit, you now have me as an enduring customer, even though you wouldn't let me pay the difference and upgrade to an HR for the watchband clasp. =)

5.0 out of 5 stars Third FitBit Product - All Working Great
Reviewed in the United States on 27 December 2014

Once connected to the Fitbit site, I was able to quickly replace my wife's "Flex" with her new "Charge" then re-gift and setup her old "Flex" for another family member. A note to those looking for accuracy. Take the time to setup your account. The more accurate you are with your numbers (weight, sex, stride length, etc.) the more accurate your Fitbit becomes. Using it out of the box is fine as it is consistent allowing you to compare from day to day. Bottom line, if it gets you moving more, than all the better.

Both the "Flex" and the "Charge" are fairly new arrivals to my family - about six months. My third product is the "Force" which is over a year old. This was a gift so I did not know what to expect, but I was intrigued and soon learned its value. The "Charge" is the replacement to the "Force" therefore I provide the following lessons learned with my experiences with the "Force" and expect the "Charge" to be very similar if not identical.

Walking: Very accurate. At first, I often watched the step counter while I walked - both on the device and on my phone app. I was impressed with the accuracy of the step counter with or without swinging my arm. Of all the pedometers I have used, this continues to be the most accurate and trusted.

Cheating the Software: Of course this is possible. You can get "bonus" steps (my words - not theirs) for shaking the device. The device is not too sensitive to shaking but does give you "bonus" steps. if you are concerned about these then I suggest that you bump up your daily step goal.

Watch: The clock on this device is synced to my phone so it is as accurate as my service provider. It has not (yet) replaced my watch.

In-Coming Calls: The "Force" received a firmware update this fall and started to show my in-coming calls on the "Force" display. I was pleasantly surprised as my phone is often kept on silent. The very useful "activity minutes" display was removed. The claim was that calculating the activity minutes was best left to the phone app, which is true as you use the app to record your exercise. However, I suspect that it may have also been a firmware size issue on the device and something had to make way for the in-coming calls. Either way - it was a fair trade and I greatly appreciate being able to see who it calling without interrupting my meetings.

Sleep Calculator: My wife LOVES this feature, but I only have one word for it: Freaky. It records my every movement during sleep which is valuable but my subconscious seems to sense that the device is recording my every movement. The "Flex" and "Charge" also knows when you are sleeping and knows whey you are awake. They have a manual start/stop mode but you do not need to use it - its all automatic. The start/stop times seem to be very accurate and the device won't give me any auto sleep credit if I take it off at night. Like I said - Freaky.

Cycling: My wife and I cycle often so my advice here is to take it off, enjoy the ride and enter your exercise in the phone app. This is the most accurate for your step counter and your calories burned. You can wear it and get the "bonus" from the road/trail or wear it on your ankle where it does a nice job of counting revolutions. But for me, I have a cycle computer that gives me all the information I need about my rides.

Swimming: Never used. My simple thought here is that I don't step when I swim so there is nothing to count.

    Running: We don't.

Suggestions for Fitbit. You have something awesome here, but I wonder how long you will be able to stay ahead of the competition. You seem to be reluctant to integrate with other apps and personal fitness devices are about to take a giant leap forward. Right now these devices integrate with a larger host device for social integration, storage, and more accurate calculations. I am looking for devices capable of doing this with minimal host integration. I would not expect this device to replace my phone but it should be able to add significant value without my phone. I am not sure I will move up to your "HR" or "Surge" models as much now depends on where the market takes these devices.

This band suits my needs for activity tracking better than my other one and tracks more things, but isn't perfect. There are lots of good points, but setting it up was frustrating. It does not come with instructions beyond 'go to the website' and it took me forever to figure out what all I needed to do and where to do it. I'd been using the Perfect IQ band which is a simple entry level activity tracker that I liked. It did the basic tracking easily and was intuitive to set up and use. My main reason for upgrading was that I wanted to see the time more easily since I can't wear my watch on the same wrist and find wearing the band on the other wrist uncomfortable--just personal preference, but I wanted the time without having to push a button which I did on the other band. Theoretically on this one, all I have to do it tap it twice for the time to display. I had trouble with this at first but finally got a display almost every time if I tap it on the side. Don't know why it is finicky about that.

I found the setup a lot more aggravating than I expected given how easy the Perfect IQ band was. There really are zero instructions supplied with this band so I thought I'd share the basics here for others. In the box you get the band, a tiny tracking plug-in thing, a charging cord and a tiny booklet of safety cautions that doesn't include instructions.
    1) First off, push and hold the button on the band for two seconds. The time display should come on. This will let you know there is some charge in the unit. If you don't get anything, the charging cord plugs into the back of the band and then into a USB port. I found tilting the plug a little when inserting it into the back of the band works best. When I initially tried to plug it straight in, it didn't seem to fit, but it does. Once connected you may see a charging symbol on the band display. If not, push the button and it should show. The band charges fully in an hour or less and lasts well. I recharge mine about once a week.
    2) The tiny odd tracking thing is to plug into a USB port on the computer you use most (and leave it there since it's otherwise easy to lose). The idea is when you are near that computer (and it is hooked to the internet) the band will sync with your online account.
    3) Go to the fitbit.com website and set up an account, creating a profile, etc. It will automatically set your step goal at 10,000 steps. Some goals you can set up yourself online.
    4) From your smart phone, download the Fitbit app from your app store. I have an iPhone 5 and iTunes downloaded it easily, plus it works great. I did not need to pair a BlueTooth connection on my phone as I did with the other band, the Fitbit connection was just magic :) and it syncs fast with the band statistics when I open the app each time. Along with other displays in the app it shows how much charge is left in my band battery. The app is really good. I like it a lot better even than the fitbit.com display. I found I could set everything I want in the phone app, including change my 'steps' goal, which I couldn't find a place to do on the website.

Tracking calories in the phone app works pretty well. The database of items is extensive but sometimes the quantities are not very useful. I like that after setting up my weight goal, activity level and how many pounds I'd like to lose a week, the app tells me how many calories I still have left to eat if I want to meet that goal. Sometimes that translates to my stepping up my activity level. It's encouraging.

I'm amazed at how effective the sleep monitor is on the band and the app display is enlightening. I haven't figured out about the flights of stairs. It doesn't seem to track that automatically, but I'm old and do stairs slowly and often one step at a time so maybe it's just me. It did show flights of stairs one day when I was extremely active, not doing stairs, but using a garden tiller which is pretty hard work. I also don't really understand the activity setting which it seems you can turn on and turn off like a stopwatch, but again that may make lots of sense to young people who are monitoring specific things. For me, I'm just interested in ensuring that I get a reasonable amount of exercise throughout the day and the band definitely encourages that.

The band shows your steps, distance, calories burned and a few other items you set to show when you press the button, in addition to the time. The time display can be customized to also show seconds or the date. The display is crisp and bright and easily readable. Unlike the basic narrow Fitbit band, this one is 3/4" wide so is a definite presence on your wrist. As I said, I can't wear a watch as well which my daughter can manage with her narrower version, but I really wanted the display since I was used to that on my simpler band and liked it.

The fastener is generally secure but it did come loose once when I was clearing vines in the garden, so I got some of those little silicone clips and haven't had any trouble since. I have big wrists (7.25") so got the large size and find it fits nicely. I have three notches to make it tighter and three to make it looser. I have very sensitive skin but have had no trouble with irritation from the band. I wear it tight enough to keep it in place while not binding.

Once I got through all the setup and am now accustomed to using the band I like it very much and value the extra features my simpler band didn't offer, but the initial setup was frustrating and I still wish the time display came on more easily, but all in all I'm pleased with this purchase.
