- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2018This is my second Solia. My first one (with blue plates) developed a short after several years of use. I went back to Chi (which is what I used prior to my first Solia) but was extremely disappointed. I didn't realize under AFTER I purchased the Chi and started using it that Chi has reduced the temperature setting on its flat irons from 310 degrees F to 260 degrees F, something that hasn't been publicized. I found it on the Chi Web site when I realized that the iron wasn't getting hot enough. It took some digging around because the information was buried deeply in the site. (Interestingly, I just tried to find it again, but couldn't, so the company has either removed the reference or I was unsuccessful in getting to it because it is so hard to find.) That 50 degrees makes a huge difference for someone with thick, wild, curly hair like mine. Solia irons can be set for temperatures up to 350 degrees F, but are not easy to find (one of the reasons I bought the Chi), and I'm thankful that Amazon still carries them. The new Solia is working beautifully. I just wish I had skipped the Chi and gone straight to the Solia. Lesson learned.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2016I bought my first flat iron about 15 years ago, which happened to be a Solia 1 1/4" ceramic. It was the best... and lasted me about 15 years until a few weeks ago when the cord started going bad. I decided to read reviews of other irons out there, and based on reviews, I decided to change up and bought a BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium iron for around $120. BIG MISTAKE. I was used to using an iron on 450 degrees, so I used it on this temp when straightening with the BaByliss. This iron FRIED my hair. It felt like dry brittle straw after a few times of straightening and I could tell it was ruining my hair. The handle also gets VERY hot when trying to clamp the iron down, which makes it hard to handle for very long. I never had an issue with this with the Solia. In the end, I decided to buy another Solia and used it for the first time today. COMPLETE DIFFERENCE. My hair is back to the silky smooth (non-burnt) look I had before. I will never buy anything but Solia brand from here on out!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2016It does the job. Warms up quickly and it feels solid. Only drawback is that the controls are inside the paddle and could be tricky when it is heated up if you want to make an adjustment without risking burning your finger. Best to decide on setting before heating and don't change while it's still hot. Fast shipping and good package.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2019I have waited a few weeks to write a review about this flat iron because I wanted to see how it works with everyday use. This is my second Solia. My first I had for about 5 years and it got a short in the wire somehow and would turn on but not stay on. I absolutely loved the old one. This one however is weird. It does seem well made like a soft finish sort of rubbery material where the old one was like a hard plastic. But this new one has very different plates that pull the crap out of my hair! The plates stick up pretty far from the unit and it creates a gap that very easily gets hair caught in it. My old one didn’t do that at all. Then there’s the temperature dial that only has the lowest to highest numbers on it so you can’t tell what you’re truly styling your hair at. It does a decent job straightening but I do have to go over and over my hair and along with the snagging I just feel like it’s not a good straightener. It also makes a strange cracking or popping sound when I turn it on. It’s not the worst but definitely not the best and I really wish it was the old one because that’s the one pictured on here but not what they sent.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2019I have always liked Solia flat irons however the one I have , I have had a long while so I figured I just buy another on in the event my iron fails me so I would have a back up . Well I give this flat iron a one star !! The look and feel of it was amazing but we buy flat irons to do it’s job and this one I had to go over and over my hairs several times to get it straight and it left my hair feeling very dry not to mention it snagged my hair . So I returned it :(
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2022I thought it was like the one I had (that went bad) but it wasn't. My old one had "peanut butter" colored plates and I loved it!! Lasted a long time! This one looks to me like its been used due to scratches on the outside veneer (and I paid $66.00 for it), the heat control only shows 140 degrees and 450........ so u don't know what your heat is in between. And besides, I didn't even see those numbers until I put my magnifying glass to it! I was using it today and all of sudden red light was out and plates cold. Not sure what happened there? I am soooo upset with this flat iron I could cry. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SOLIA!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2016I inherited my first Solia flat iron from my daughter when she decided to stop ironing her hair. I had tried other brands and had to return them b/c I hated the design (e.g., I kept turning off the unit due to where the switch was located on the handle. Not the case with the Solia!! I love the feel and design of this iron which is why I am buying it again. The unit is light and the switches are all on the inside so no accidental turning off while using the handle to manipulate the unit through your hair. I also love the adjustable temperature gauge, long cord, and fast heating time. This is a much better value with better design and more functionality than the Chi flat iron I almost bought at Ulta for $20 more!!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2019Love. Don’t even have to separate the layers of your hair and I have thick hair! It just straightens it all and leaves it super shiny. Takes a lot less time to straighten my hair with this than other straighteners. This is actually my second Solia straightener. I have had my first one for 3-4 years and it still works great. This one I purchased for my daughter.
