There is so much you want for your wedding and it should be unique and special whether it is your dress, hairstyle, makeup, jewelry, sandals and then you looked at the mirror to admire yourself. But what is this on your arms? Don’t they look fluffy and your chubby cheeks even your belly is little out of the body. Okay, he accepts and loves you for what you are but what about the guests. They would certainly do one or a couple of comments and what about the jealous cousins. You will become a laughing stock because of those extra pounds. Now there are two solutions to this problem:
- Go for a quick fix like diet pills, crash diet, starving, extreme exercise plan, etc. and regain the pack of pounds soon after marriage.
- Go for a planned diet and workout routine, lose weight, moderately, tone up main areas and maintain the overall health for a long time.
Well, the former gives a result, but it can also harm your body while the latter doesn’t promise to give drastic results, but it will make you glow in a healthy way. We will suggest you go for the latter option and here are the tips on how you can set on a healthy diet and fitness program in a stress laden wedding plan.

It doesn’t matter that if your wedding is due in this month or 6 months later. The main important point is if you will not start today, then you will lose your precious time with each passing day. Your dream day is enough to keep you motivated to start making changes to your diet as soon as possible.
Fix some goals
You already have the aim in your mind that you have to look your best at your wedding, but losing 50 pounds in a week or monthly time is unrealistic. So, go for small but realistic goals such as losing 5 – 10 pounds per month.
Drink plenty of water
A wedding means lots of preparation and you must be running around to make arrangements or shopping. All these activities can make you stressed and dehydrated. Always keep a water bottle in your bag and take little sips consistently as it will keep you away from unhealthy eating like having snacks during the shopping. It is recommended to have at least 3 – 4 liter of water daily and also drink water before and after 30 minutes of a meal. It will give you a sense of fullness and make you eat less.
Reduce your servings
Try to lose weight by eating instead of starving yourself. Divide your three meals into 5 meals a day and reduce the plate content. Serve the meal on a small plate and eat slowly while chewing the food. Wait for sometime before going for a second serving since studies states that the stomach takes 20 minutes to send signal to the brain about its full status. Always carry healthy snacks with you like fruits, baked beans, roasted nuts, granola bar etc. to keep cravings at bay. It will make you full and energize the body. Here are some meal plan made by taking time constraint into consideration. For Indian and American brides we have given two different meal plan.
For Indian Brides – If you have six months time span then you can follow this meal plan:
- Morning: green tea, 1 fruit (of your choice)
- Breakfast: 1 bowl of oats porridge/ Poha/ Upma/ idli
- Mid morning snack: 1 fruit, 4 almonds/ walnuts
- Lunch: salad, 2 rotis/ 1 cup brown rice , veggies , dal , curds
- Evening snack: whole wheat bread sandwich/ bhel(no sev)/ sprouts/protein bar/rusks
- Dinner: soup, salad, veggies/ chicken/ fish , 1 roti
- Bedtime: 1 cup skim milk
If you three months time you can still lose inches from your mid body with this meal plan:
- Morning: green tea, 2 dates
- Breakfast: oats Upma/ oats dosa
- Mid morning snack: 1 fruit, 4 almonds/ walnuts
- Lunch: salad, 1 rotis/ 1 cup brown rice, veggies, dal, curd
- Evening snack: 1 fruit
- Dinner: soup, salad, veggies/ chicken/ fish
- Bedtime: 1 cup skim milk
If your wedding is just a month away, then you can still shed some calories off the body with this plan
- Morning: green tea + 2 dates
- Breakfast: fruits + nuts
- Mid morning snack: 1 bowl sprouts/ salad of pulses
- Lunch: salad + veggies + dal + curd
- Evening snack: soup
- Dinner: salad/ stir fry+ veggies/ chicken/ fish
- Bedtime: 1 cup skim milk
You can make slight healthy modifications in the meal plan by adding fiber rich snacks, protein bar or shakes etc. in midday and evening time. If you have enough time then you can start your diet plan with 6 month meal plan, then switch to the 3 month meal plan followed by one month meal plan and you will get a healthy and glowing body.
If you are an American bride to be then you can follow this meal plan:
Day 01:
- Morning: 2 liters water and 150 ml cucumber, apple, pineapple, spinach, a whole lemon, ginger.
- Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 1 cup of fresh fruit.
- Mid morning snack: 30 grams of trail mix which consists of mixed nuts, cranberries, goji berries, raw cacao nibs, and sunflower seeds.
- Lunch: Grilled turkey with lettuce, tomato, red cabbage and hummus on pita bread.
- Evening snack: Plain yogurt mixed with flax seeds.
- Dinner: baked salmon with 1 cup steamed zucchini, broccoli, and squash.
Day 02:
- Morning: 2 liters water and chamomile tea.
- Breakfast: 1 cup raw muesli with half cup oat milk and blueberries.
- Mid morning snack: 5 strawberries, 15g pumpkin seeds.
- Lunch: Salad of spinach, salad greens, cucumbers and 100 grams kidney beans.
- Evening snack: 30 grams trail mix, 1 apple.
- Dinner: 2 cups Syrian red lentil soup.
Day 03:
- Morning: 2 liters water and 150 ml cucumber, apple, pineapple, spinach, a whole lemon, ginger.
- Breakfast: a Banana blueberry smoothie.
- Mid morning snack: 10 cashews, 1 apple.
- Lunch: half cup boiled Quinoa with 1 cup chopped zucchini, squash, broccoli, and carrots with 15ml tamari/extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of Dulse flakes for seasoning.
- Evening snack: Cucumber and carrot seeds with hummus.
- Dinner: Baked chicken with pan-seared mushrooms and spinach.
Day 04:
- Morning: 2 liters water, peppermint tea.
- Breakfast: 2 egg omelets with mushroom, tomato, and parsley.
- Mid morning Snack: 30g trail mix.
- Lunch: Canned salmon, green bean salad.
- Evening Snack: 1 apple, handful grapes.
- Dinner: Salad of 150g grilled lamb, salad greens, olives, cucumber, and 15 ml balsamic vinegar/olive oil.
Day 05:
- Morning: 2 liters water and 150 ml cucumber, apple, pineapple, spinach, a whole lemon, ginger.
- Breakfast: 70 grams plain yogurt with 10 grams flax seeds, 2 teaspoons coconut flakes and 2 teaspoons chia seeds.
- Mid morning snack: Carrots, grapes.
- Lunch: 2 cups Syrian red lentil soup.
- Evening snack: 10 Cashews, 1 banana.
- Dinner: Squash, eggplant and mushrooms with half cup cooked brown rice, add Tamari to taste.
Day 06:
- Morning: 2 liters water, dandelion leaf tea.
- Breakfast: 2 slices sourdough bread with 80g ricotta, 1 tsp honey, and cinnamon.
- Snack: 35 grams plain yogurt mixed with pumpkin seeds, 1 apple.
- Lunch: Grilled chicken with salad greens such as lettuce, rocket, and spinach. Sprinkle with black pepper and Dulse flakes.
- Snack: 10 cashews, 1 apple.
- Dinner: Grilled tuna with sweet potato & ginger mash and steamed beans.
Day 07:
- Morning: 2 liters water and 150 ml cucumber, apple, pineapple, spinach, a whole lemon, ginger.
- Breakfast: 1 cup raw muesli with half cup oat milk and blueberries.
- Mid morning snack: 30 grams of pumpkin seeds.
- Lunch: salmon, tofu and broccoli patties.
- Evening snack: 30 grams trail mix, 12 grapes.
- Dinner: steak with green beans and broccoli.
Forget booze till the wedding
One drink can add 150 or more calories to your body and even if you take a few shots, then still you will end up with thousands of calories. If it is becoming very hard for you then you can go for alternating alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

You cannot escape this part if you want a toned body. It will boost your energy level, make you relax and kick up your metabolism to burn more calories.
